Hey All!

The 3 weeks trial/ get-to-know the weapon groups period has just ended. We do hope all the juniors had fun and understand fencing way much better. Now's the time to select the weapon group you're keen to train with! :D

An email has been sent out to those who wrote down their emails on the 13th May instructing them to fill up the form. For those of you who did not receive the email, fret not, here's the link:

Hey guys

Welcome back to school! I hope that you guys had a great rest during the holidays and are back with full of energy for the new semester. Anyway, here is a quick update about the upcoming Fencing Introductory Course (FIC).

You are interested in the sport; Fencing but you have no idea what Fencing is all about. What do you do? Easy! We say, come on down to our Fencing Introductory Camp 2010 and be amazed by our very own Musketeers as they demonstrate their ability to attack and defence with speed and accuracy. This will be your chance to get your hands on the different weapons available and discover the art of fencing. So, what are you waiting for? Come and join us this Saturday, 24 April 2010 from 10 am to 2pm at the Level 1 Sports Deck near the snacks bar. Please report at the venue by 9.45am for administration purposes. Be sure to dress in your sports attire, complete with a pair of sports shoes as there will be alot of fun filled activities waiting for you. School's started for a couple of weeks now, so I hope you've all settled back into the "school" mood! Haha. In any case, a few updates to take note!

NPF will be holding an upcoming event, known as NP Invites. It is a competition held for beginner fencers and we will be inviting fencers from schools & clubs in Singapore to take part. As such, we will need your help! NP Invites will be held on the 5th & 6th of December, & we would need all of you to help out in the hosting of this event. It is compulsory & CCA points under service will be awarded. More details will be released soon! (:

Another event to take note of is NP Open House '10! This event will be held in January & it'll be during school days. We would need you to help out during your free periods! It is compulsory & CCA points under service will be awarded. More details will be released soon too! (:

Due to the recent rising number in H1N1 cases, all members are now required to take temperature before coming to fencing trainings. Please bring along a thermometer with you! If you suffer from the following symptons, please inform your captain and go home immediately, DO NOT come for training!

1.Temperature above or equal to 38 Celsius
2. Flu-like symptoms (eg., cough, sore throat, runny nose, chills and shivering, muscle aches, shortness of breath) past 3 days
3. Been in contact with a known/suspected patient in the past 7 days
4. Any of your immediate family members been in contact with a known /suspected patient in the past 7 days
5. Travel history to the affected countries as listed in the MOH website for the past 7 days

The purpose of the tagboard is for people to leave down any queries they may have about the sport or cca-related matters. However, recently there have been many anonymous taggers and people who have been tagging using other fencers' names. This is an inappropriate behaviour. Therefore, the tagboard has been taken down. Hello everyone! :D A couple of things to take note of:

1. There will be no trainings for the next 2 weeks, week 7 & 8, 1st to 12th June. It will be the common test period so please do make good use of this break from your trainings to prepare for your common tests! All the best everyone! :D

Hello everyone (: Just a few announcements to take note of (:

1. A minimum of 2 trainings a week is required (: Eg. Which means that if you can't make it on Tuesday, come on Thursday & Saturday.

2. Saturdays are PT days from now on.

3. For the Year 1s, this week you will be streamed! So please decide whether you would like to learn Sabre, Foil or Epee (: On Thursday & Saturday, you'll be given a slip to fill up so please place your choice on it!

4. For people who are interested in foil, please note that Coach Henry will be coming down every Tuesday, so if you can't make it on Tuesday trainings, we recommend that you join Epee as the the coach will come on Thursdays. However for Sabre, the coach will come for almost all training except when he's overseas. The seniors will train the juniors.
This way, you will not miss out too much of the importants teachings! However, if you are keen to join the weapon group that you like, but is not able to make it down on the day the coach for that weapon group is coming, then perhaps you could try talking to the captain of that group for an alternative solution. We honestly hope you guys will be able to choose the weapon group you want, and not be obstructed in doing so in any other way! (:

Here are some important announcements to take note.

1. Trainings on Tuesdays will no longer be physical training. Coach Henry will be coming to coach instead. Physical trainings will be held on Saturdays, 10am to 1pm & all year 1s are required to come.

2. As all of you are in 3 separate groups, Group 1 has been learning Foil, Group 2 has been learning Sabre & Group 3 has been learning Epee. We will now rotate the groups.

Hello all :D

There will be a change of plans regarding the BBQ as it is too expensive. We will all pay only 10 bucks each. For those who paid 16 bucks, please get your 6 bucks back from your captains. This is as we will get the food ourselves and it will be a lot cheaper. Therefore I will need you to volunteer to help to buy the food on the BBQ day itself. Please let your captains know if you are able to help out.

We will also be having a potluck kind of session. Each weapon group is required to bring 2 to 3 dishes on that day. Dishes can be food like fried rice etc. Please discuss and come up with the dishes and let your captains know by Sunday afternoon.

Club maintenance

The clubhouse was cleaned and tidied up on Tuesday. Great job and a big thank you to all who helped out! Please treat all equipment with due respect and place them back to where they belong after use, thank you. This will ensure that things do not get reported lost, only to be found hiding in some other corner of the clubhouse months later.

Everyone will have to pay 5 bucks for club maintenance. This is to buy things that the club needs in order to maintain the condition of the equipment. The things that will be bought would be things like hangers, tape etc etc. Please pay it to your captains asap.

Hello :D

I have booked the BBQ pits. They are BBQ area C pits 14 and 15. As there are about 40 of us, I figured that 1 pit would not be enough. It is on 10 April, from 12 pm to 8 am the next day. The BBQ will start at about 6.30pm.

As for BBQ food, I will be ordering from BBQ Wholesale Centre, 40 persons package. As there are people who can't take beef, I will change the beef items to chicken.

Hello all :D

As there are quite a number of people who cannot make it for the chalet, I'm suggesting to just hold a Bbq night instead at ECP on 10th Apr, Friday night, when everyone has finished their attachments and will most likely be able to make it. I'm thinking of booking the biggest pit, which is only 20 bucks per session from 12pm to 8am. It's 6M, but I'm not sure if it'll be enough for all of us. So, take a look, let me know if you think we need to book the neighbouring slightly smaller one for 16 bucks too. It'll probably be either area B or C but I can't read maps for nuts so I don't know which one is more ulu. So, if you do know, let me know too, so that I can book the less ulu one for convenience sake.

As for activities, you guys can rent bikes overnight to cycle etc, skate etc, or just chill at the already chilly beach etc etc. Free & easy :D

Hello all!

I trust that you've all studied hard for your exams, so now's the time to relax and rejunvenate during the holidays!

Anyway, as you all know, we have a few seniors who will be leaving us ): They're graduating! So, to thank them for all their guidance and as a farewell present to them, we will be having a chalet! :D There will also be a BBQ :D

The proposed date is 6th to 8th April. It will be at Aloha Changi again, as it is the cheapest :// Unless you guys wanna fork out more for the Aloha Loyang one, then please do let your captains know. Well, please let your captains know by TUESDAY, 3rd March 2009, as well as to whether or not you are for the idea of the chalet, and whether you are able to attend.

Hi everyone,

2 things i want to address in this post.

1) Embroidery for jackets (only the seniors who have unembroidered jackets)
2) Club-taking photo day (everyone)

1) Seniors who have unembroidered np jackets, please bring them down THIS TUESDAY(07/10/2008) during training time and kindly pass them to ME(serena) because i'll be sending them in for embroidery THE NEXT DAY(08/10/2008). Also bring along 8 bucks for the cost of the embroidery(it's veryveryvery cheap already. i heard the seniors paid 20 for theirs).

Note: I'll only be making ONE(1) trip down to the place(cause very far and inconvenient) so please do try to come down to pass it to me. Or at least get someone who's coming down to train to pass it to me. If i don't receive it by tuesday evening then it's your loss. Nobody will go after you for it. (o:

2) Alright, since now we've ALL gotten our club tees, we can finally put into place our idea of taking our CLUB PHOTO!(yes, this is the one that we'll putting up on the noticeboard). Please bring along your club shirt - Black one.

We'll be taking it this coming TUESDAY(07/10/2008). Hmmm, venue would be the sports deck. Time that we'll be taking this photo would be about 7pm. So no more excuses for those who-used-to-say-that-they-are-busy-because-of-attachment-and-cannot-make-it. Ha!

This is the last week of holidays so let's try to do the things that we can still do before the daily grind(i mean school) begins alright?

For those who went to the chalet, please pay up an extra $3.30 as due to the insufficient food that was ordered, there were extra money being forked out ($100 in total) to get more stuff. CHALET UPDATE.

HELLO EVERYONE.

This is an update regarding the chalet. Finally, after many many decisions and obstacles, we've finally got the chalet booked!
Details are as follow:

When: 7th to 9th Sept. (For foil, Charles have informed me that you guys are extending another day so you'll be checking on 10th if I'm not wrong. :D )
Where: Aloha Changi, Fairy point BUNGALOW 1. (Pls not that its BUNGALOW, not fairy point CHALET!)

The meeting time is 3PM, at Tampines Interchange. Unfortunately, there is no shuttle bus going to aloha changi, thus, you guys will have to take BUS 29 from the interchange and stop at SIA SPORTS CLUB. The entire journey should take you approx 30mins. I've attached the map below to let you guys see where SIA sports club is and where our chalet is.

However, I do not know the exact location of the bus stop, I only know that it goes to SIA sports club which as you can see, is the nearest to FPB1 which is our chalet. Thus, if you guys are still unsure, ask bus uncle or smth ok!! hahaha.

Other than that, I urge all of you not to be late, because I think the chalet is quite ulu, and it would be better to go as a group. However, if you are, just follow the directions above, and it should get you there fine.

BBQ night will be on sunday night itself, and the food will be there by 5pm. (Mikail to note yeah THANKS!)

Lastly, I hope everyone will have fun this chalet, and enjoy! :DD

Hello everyone! Well, this post is just to remind everyone that training WILL resume on 26th of August 2008, Tuesday. PLEASE NOTE TIMING HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 4PM INSTEAD. FOUR. PM. okay, everyone? It will be 3hours, so end prob around 7pm. However, the ending timings for each individual weapon training may vary according to individual weapon group captains. Thus, please check with your own captain if you need to know. Other than that, the location will be at the same place, Sports Deck.

Hi everyone!
Well, there are a few issues to tell you guys about, so do read the below carefully alright. (:

1. Training dates

In view of the upcoming semester exams, this week ( 28th July 08 - 1st Aug 08 ) will be that last week of training. This means that this thursday which is the 31st July 08 will be the last training for all weapon groups. Training will resume immediately after the week of exams.
So guys, we know you love fencing, but do study hard for the sems exams as it is extremely important okay! Plenty of rest and support from NPFencing team! (:

2. Club T-shirts

All members of NPF club are to bring $20 for the club tee shirt on this thursday (31st July 08) and pay it to your captains who will then mark the names of the people who have paid, and then pass the money and list together to the treasurer, Poh How. There have been slight changes to the kind of design that we are going to have, but we will be having 2 club shirts still. I am not able to post up the pictures as of now but will do so soon. Fret not though! I assure you the design is really good. The committee has agreed to it with a smile! :D
Thus, Captains of respective weapon groups, please collect the money from your team members and remember to write down their names and pass it to Poh How on Thursday.
I'm sure everyone wants their tshirt asap, isn't it? ;)

P.S: For seniors, those who have paid $10 to Nadjmi previously will only need to pay an extra $10 more now. And I hope all of you remember who you are!

3. CHALET CHALET!!

Hahah, CHALET PEOPLE. Okay, for now, we have decided to hold this year's chalet at Aloha Loyang. For those who have no idea where it is etc, please refer to the previous entry and links.
It will be a 3D2N chalet and tentatively it will be on the 2nd week of September. I am currently planning it on 8th Sept to 10th Sept which is Monday - Wed, if I'm not wrong. Please let me know the number of people who cannot make it!
Also, as I need to gauge the size of the chalet place we need, I NEED TO KNOW THE CONFIRMED NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO WILL TURN UP.

Please captains, another favour to ask of you guys. Please help me to collect the number of CONFIRMED people who can come down. CONFIRMED, I repeat. Do urge your friends/team to come so that we can split the cost among more people, making it cheaper and yet still enjoyable for yourself!
Captains, I need the reply by best, end of this week. Thanks alot.

4. Pesta Sukan Competition

I am sure by now, some of you or rather most of you, would have received information that some of your seniors are taking part in the Pesta Sukan Competition this weekend ( 2nd Aug - 3rd Aug 08 ). As a result, we would all greatly appreciate it if you can come down this weekend to lend your support to those who are involved in the competition.

It will be held at the Clementi Sports Hall. You can get to there by taking mrt/bus to Clementi station/interchange and then walk all the way past NTUC fairprice & Kbox, after which you should able to see the place. For those who do not know, you can ask your seniors and meet them earlier or something to go along. You can actually reach Clementi MRT station by taking 184 from the bus stop across Ngee Ann Poly. Just a tip. There's other alternatives though. (:

Hello all!

Well, currently we are thinking of holding a NPF chalet during the next semester break in aug/sept/oct, but I need a couple of opinions and information as of below:

Firstly, I need to know the schedules of you guys to see which period I should book the chalet for, like for example if you are going overseas for your holiday, let me know which dates you are NOT free.

Secondly, I need to know also, who and how many of you are interested in coming for the chalet. As in those very keen to come and WILL COME, won't pangseh ones okay! This is because I need to split the cost of the chalet among the amount of people who will turn up be it staying overnight or not.

Thirdly, I need opinions and suggestions on where to hold this year's chalet at. The club had its chalet last year at Safra but the location is albeit inconvenient despite the very nice chalet amenities. Another choice is Aloha Loyang. I'm not exactly keen to take costa sands downtown east because its really pathetic, very extremely small (the one room types) so yeah. Or if you guy want costa sands, we can take the one at Pasir Ris which is two storey with a small room at the 2nd storey. But if alot of people are staying over, I would recommend Aloha Loyang instead.

Common Test break.

Hello all!

I hope you guys are having fun in training! Well, we play hard but we study hard too isn't it?
Therefore, in view of the Common Test that is coming, there will not be any training from 26th May till 10th June.
Which means that this saturday(24th May) will be the last training for all.

Regarding attendance issues, please note that Tuesdays ARE COMPULSORY. If you cannot make it, please provide a valid reason why to your captains. Thanks!

Also, we are asking the year1s to choose your weapons by this week and hand in your choice to Mikail/Yigong. You will most likely to be training with your weapon group when training resumes after common test. So make your wise choice alright!

Please do note the updates and revise well for your exams!

Please turn up in your sports attire meaning T-shirt AND shorts with shoes appropriate for running. (No jeans etc please!!)

The registration booth for the FIC will be opened from 21st-22nd april at canteen 2, from 11am to 4pm. So once again, people who are interested to come for the course in which we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to, please do remember to register! :D

For those who have no idea where that is, you can meet at the snack bar, located at the ground floor of the sports complex.
(NPF club members will be there so approach them if you are unsure whether you are at the right venue.)

Fencing Introductory Course (FIC)

When: 26th April 2008
Time: 10am to 2pm
Where: LT 73A
(Please meet at the Student Plaza outside cheers as we will be guiding you over.)
Please note that a fee of $3/- per pax is required.

To register, please make your way to the NPFencing booth at the CCA fiesta on the 14th-15th April at the Convention Center.
If you have missed out the chance to do so at the Fiesta, do not worry! We will be having another round of registry for the FIC on the 21st-22nd April at Canteen 2 too.

Interested in Fencing yet do not know if it is the right activity to join? Or curious about Fencing and wish to know more about the sport?
Then this course is right for you! Come down on the 26th of April 2008 to learn more about what Fencing is about, the various weapons that we provide in the Ngee Ann Fencing Club and more information on each weapons! There will be hands-on opportunities for you to try out what fencing is about, as well as demonstrations by our club members! Refreshments will be provided as well.
